Barbecue, Bits and a Countdown, Cedric the Entertainer and Anthony Anderson Cook at the L.A. Times Food Bowl

Anthony Anderson and Cedric the Entertainer headline Saturday, October 24, at the L.A. Times Food Bowl at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, one night after the Times counts down its 101 Best Restaurants in L.A. on the same floor.

The Times’ Food Bowl page bills the pair with their cookbook, AC Barbeque, The Husky and Handsome Guide to Grilling, alongside Roy Choi and his book The Choi of Cooking. BlackNLA reported that Anderson and Cedric will do a cooking demonstration and conversation, and that Choi, the chef behind Kogi BBQ, will give a live demonstration the same night. Sol Bashirian of Sunday Gravy and Victor Villa of Villa’s Tacos are also on the Saturday bill.

What Happens on Friday

Friday night is built around the Times’ 101 Best Restaurants guide, with the countdown shown live for the first time in Food Bowl history, according to the Times. Average Socialite’s listing says Times critics Bill Addison and Jenn Harris ranked the list, that guests receive a first-edition print guide, and that the night also brings this year’s Hall of Fame inductee and the 2026 Gold Award. The Times page names Gilberto Cetina of Holbox, Brian Dunsmoor of Dunsmoor, Ori Menashe and Genevieve Gergis of Saffy’s, and Jon Yao of Kato among the Friday chefs.

Both nights are 21 and over, with unlimited food and drink from more than 30 restaurants per night, chef demos, cookbook signings and DJ Danny Stern on the decks, according to the Times. General admission, VIP tickets with early entry and a VIP lounge, and two-night weekend passes are sold through the Food Bowl page, which did not list hours or prices when we checked. Published start times differ between listings, so confirm hours on your ticket. The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is the charity partner. Barker Hangar is at 3021 Airport Avenue, Suite 203, Santa Monica, a short drive from the Fairmont Miramar’s Marilyn Monroe night the same Saturday.
