Karaoke Behind the Zodiac, Little Luck Opens on the Sunset Strip
The h.wood Group turns the old Bootsy Bellows address into a Japanese izakaya with private karaoke rooms, opening Monday, October 19.

The room at 9229 W. Sunset Boulevard used to make its money after midnight. On Monday, October 19, it will start making it at dinner. Los Angeles Magazine reported that Little Luck, the h.wood Group’s first Japanese concept, opens that night in the former Bootsy Bellows space on the Sunset Strip, and the restaurant’s own site now carries the same date and takes reservations.
What Replaces the Nightclub
Bootsy Bellows spent more than a decade on the Strip. WEHOonline reported in April that the club, co-owned by John Terzian, Brian Toll and David Arquette, had closed and that the h.wood Group would turn the address into an elevated Japanese restaurant. At that point it had no opening date. “We put a lot of thought into these three new locations,” Toll said then. The company also runs Delilah, The Nice Guy, Bird Streets and Harriet’s.
The Kitchen and the Bar
The chef is Erik Idos, a Los Angeles native who, according to LA Mag, spent nearly a decade with Nobu. The magazine calls Little Luck “his most personal project to date.” The menu is built for sharing, with sashimi and nigiri, charcoal-grilled meats and seafood, skewers, and rice and noodle dishes.
Kevin Lee leads the cocktail program. LA Mag describes him as a certified Japanese Ice Master who has “hand-carved around 30,000 ice spheres.”
The Room
The space is inspired by Ophiuchus, which LA Mag notes is often called the 13th sign of the zodiac. A dedicated vinyl booth sits against a wall of around 4,000 records. Two private dining rooms have built-in karaoke for smaller dinners and celebrations.
The opening lands in a busy stretch for the Strip, where Kozo also serves Afro-Asian dining.
