At ComplexCon this weekend, October 3 and 4 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Hellstar will unveil a collection made with Interscope Records and the Tupac Shakur Estate. It honors the West Coast rap legend and the 30th anniversary of the Makaveli album, and it arrives as the convention celebrates its own 10th birthday.

Expect multiple graphic tees that take their cues from the bootleg rap tees of the ‘90s, plus limited-edition vinyl, all given the label’s signature flare. Since 2020, Sean Holland and Joseph Pendleton have turned flames, religious symbolism and all-over graphics into what Complex calls the blueprint for new-school streetwear.

Holland sees the Tupac license as a vote of confidence. “Being able to have the official license with Tupac, I think it’s another one of those things of being able to prove myself and show what I can do when someone trusts in me creatively,” he told Complex. The city matters too. “Dropping it in LA at ComplexCon, I feel like everything’s coming together how it’s supposed to,” he said.

Hellstar already hangs in luxury boutiques like Patron of the New and The Webster, and Complex notes that its look is so influential the copycats are countless. Holland has a view on that as well. “I don’t even want to know the amount of money that has been made off of selling fake Hellstar,” he said.

ComplexCon runs Saturday and Sunday downtown, with tickets sold through ComplexCon.com.
