Lightning Bolts Downtown, Playboi Carti and Hiroshi Fujiwara Direct ComplexCon
The streetwear convention turns 10 with its first weekend at the Los Angeles Convention Center, October 3 and 4.
This weekend, ComplexCon moves into the Los Angeles Convention Center for the first time, and it arrives with two artistic directors. Playboi Carti and Hiroshi Fujiwara, the Fragment Design founder who has shaped Japanese streetwear for decades, are co-steering the festival’s 10th anniversary on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4.
Fujiwara’s lightning bolt runs across the floor, with Fragment collaborations alongside the Los Angeles Dodgers, Disney, Pokémon, Ray-Ban and Brabus. The headline object is an e-bike built with Brabus and DAB Motors, priced at roughly $50,000 and made in limited quantities. “I thought ComplexCon would be a great opportunity to unveil the bike, as people who are into different cultures with different age ranges will be there, including people who are not familiar with Fragment or BRABUS,” Fujiwara told Complex.
Carti is stamping the merchandise too. There is a YVL x I.AM.GIA capsule of co-branded baby tees with gothic Y2K graphics, a chance to win a $30,000 pink Birkin, and YVL-inspired jerseys made with Mitchell & Ness and the NBA across 12 teams. More than 300 brands fill the halls, and ThriftCon L.A. adds over 100 vintage dealers.
The nights belong to Crypto.com Arena, within walking distance. Ken Carson headlines Saturday with HXG, ApolloRed1 and DJ Moon, and Carti takes the stage Sunday with Destroy Lonely and F1lthy. Doors open at 6 p.m. both nights, with performances at 7 p.m.
Between drops, the Family Style food festival serves Majordōmo, Pizzeria Sei, Tacos Royale and Marathon Burger. Tickets are on sale at ComplexCon.com.
