Famous Stars & Straps started in 1999, and by the 2000s its logo was everywhere, worn regularly by bands from the pop-punk scene. Now Travis Barker brings the label to ComplexCon, which takes over the Los Angeles Convention Center on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4, for its 10th anniversary.

For Barker, the address matters. “I love that it’s in Los Angeles. I moved to LA shortly after starting Famous, so the brand really grew up here. ComplexCon is such a cool event, and I’m honored to be a part of it,” he told Complex.

The idea was always regional. “I started Famous because I felt like there was a void,” he said. He wanted a brand that stood for the Southern California life he was living, from music and skateboarding to MMA, cars, BMX and tattoos.

In recent years the label has had an undeniable resurgence, and its ComplexCon drop is a Ric Clayton x Famous x Estevan Oriol collaboration. Barker sees a new audience for it. “The brand is magnitudes beyond what I ever could’ve imagined. It’s so cool to see a whole new generation discovering Famous and making it their own,” he said.

He has no plans to step away again. “Famous needed to be back. And we’re never leaving again,” he said. Tickets for ComplexCon are on sale at ComplexCon.com, and the doors open downtown on the first Saturday of October.
