Flowers on Hollywood Boulevard, Nia Long Gets Her Star
Snoop Dogg and Graham King spoke as the Boyz n the Hood actor received the 2,857th star on the Walk of Fame.
On September 16, Nia Long received the 2,857th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in the Motion Pictures category, at 6150 Hollywood Boulevard. Revolt reported that the day was proclaimed Nia Long Day in Hollywood.
Variety’s Angelique Jackson emceed, and the producer Graham King and Snoop Dogg spoke. “Nia wasn’t just in the culture,” Snoop said. “Nia IS the culture.”
Long spoke about where she started. “I remember the hard days living in South Central L.A. when you drove the RTD bus and I was a latchkey kid,” she said. “This star is just as much for me as it is for my mother, because she’s the one who brought us here.”
Her mother, Talita Long, and her sons, Massai Dorsey II and Kez Udoka, were there, along with Mike Epps, Larenz Tate and Bill Bellamy.
The résumé runs from her breakout in Boyz n the Hood through Friday, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Third Watch and Empire, and she played Katherine Jackson in the biopic Michael. She is a four-time NAACP Award winner.
