No-Makeup Makeup on Montana Avenue, Bobbi Brown’s Jones Road Opens in Santa Monica
The makeup artist’s clean beauty label offers skin matching, lessons and bridal makeup in a 1,470-square-foot shop.

Bobbi Brown’s makeup now has a Montana Avenue address. Jones Road, the beauty label the makeup artist founded in 2020, has opened a store at 1406 Montana Avenue in Santa Monica, and Los Angeles magazine counts it among the city’s new boutiques for fall shopping, calling the shop the brand’s California debut.
The room runs 1,470 square feet, and the services are the draw. The store offers complimentary skin matching, lessons with trained makeup artists and bridal makeup applications. The shelves carry the brand’s best-known products, Miracle Balm and What The Foundation, along with the Bright Skin Illuminating Drops, made with vitamin C-rich botanicals, aloe and glycerin.
Brown built her name on an earlier company. The Jones Road site notes that she left her namesake brand in 2016 and is no longer affiliated with Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. Her new venture began with a question about why makeup could not be both clean and high-performance. “Jones Road was born from a search for something that didn’t yet exist,” she writes in a founder’s note on the site. “Because it didn’t exist, I had to create it.”
The brand states its philosophy plainly. “Jones Road was founded by makeup artist Bobbi Brown on the philosophy that the world doesn’t need more beauty products,” the site reads. It lists phthalates, sulfates, parabens and PEGs among the ingredients the formulas leave out.
On the brand’s store page, Santa Monica sits on a list that stretches from Montclair, New Jersey, and Greenwich Village to Austin, Nashville, Charleston and Georgetown. It is the only Los Angeles address there, and the page now also lists California stores in Palo Alto, Newport Beach and San Diego.
The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The store also hosts private events. Velvet also covered A Denim Grid on Melrose, Still Here Opens Its First Store Outside New York.
