The Key of Life in Inglewood, Stevie Wonder Ends His Anniversary Tour at Intuit Dome
On December 19 he plays Songs in the Key of Life in full, and the night doubles as his House Full of Toys benefit.
Stevie Wonder is ending his anniversary year in Inglewood. On Saturday, December 19, at 8 p.m., he plays Intuit Dome, the final date of a tour celebrating 50 years of Songs in the Key of Life that opens October 13 in Birmingham, England.
He will play the 1976 album in full. It was originally issued as a double LP with a four-song bonus EP, and it won Wonder his third Album of the Year Grammy in 1977, entered the National Recording Registry in 2005 and is certified Diamond, with more than 10 million copies sold.
The night carries a second purpose. It is Wonder’s 26th House Full of Toys benefit, which supports children, people with disabilities and families in need, and fans are asked to bring an unwrapped toy or gift. There is history in the pairing. Wonder first played the album in full at a House Full of Toys benefit in Los Angeles in 2013.
Before the tour reaches the Dome it passes through Madison Square Garden, the United Center, Capital One Arena and Detroit’s Fox Theatre. Wonder is 76, with 25 Grammy Awards, and the last word of the tour belongs to Los Angeles.
