A Ballad Reborn Downtown, She & Him Play Two Nights at the Orpheum
Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward bring their first tour in four years to downtown Los Angeles on October 2 and 3.
She & Him will play two nights at the Orpheum Theatre downtown, Friday, October 2, and Saturday, October 3, with Friday’s show at 8 p.m. The shows are part of the Pump Up the Volumes Tour, the duo’s first U.S. tour in four years, and Jordana is listed as the opener.
The return was set off by a song from 2008. “I Thought I Saw Your Face Today,” from the debut album Volume One, caught on TikTok late last year and entered the Billboard Hot 100 17 years after its release, peaking at No. 40. It was the duo’s first Hot 100 entry. In late May, Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward performed it on Jimmy Kimmel Live, their first live performance together since 2022, and announced the tour the next day.
“I can’t believe the first song I ever wrote is having its @billboard moment 20 years later. Thank you everyone for listening,” Deschanel posted when the song charted, Parade reported.
The tour opened September 20 at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago with a 26-song seated show, eight songs from Volume One, five each from Volume Two and Volume Three, and eight covers, including songs by the Miracles, the Beach Boys and Chuck Berry. Ward wore burgundy work overalls with “Him” embroidered on the chest, and Deschanel wore a sparkly pink dress with a name tag reading “She.” Jordana opened and came back to sing on four songs, Under the Radar reported.
After Los Angeles, the tour ends October 5 at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco. Tickets for the Orpheum are sold through Ticketmaster and Live Nation.
