Onyx and Walnut on Melrose Place, Proenza Schouler Comes to Los Angeles
The first new store since Rachel Scott took over the label takes the old Forte_Forte space, its first outpost beyond New York.
Proenza Schouler is going west. The label announced in August that it would open at 8424 Melrose Place, in the former Forte_Forte space, with a September opening planned. It is the brand’s first store outside New York City and its second stand-alone boutique, after the flagship at 153 Mercer Street.
It is also the first new store since Rachel Scott took over. Scott became creative director after the founders, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, stepped down in early 2025, and the interior is designed to reflect her vision.
James Mills Studio designed the interior, with custom plaster, onyx stone details, custom glass display shelving and an oversize floating walnut desk. Alongside ready-to-wear, handbags, footwear and accessories, the shop carries a rotating selection of locally sourced art and objects.
The brand launched in New York in 2002 and once had stores on Madison Avenue and Greene Street. “Los Angeles has always held a special place for us,” said Shira Suveyke Snyder, the CEO.
