Pikachu Gets a Dance Floor, Marshmello Headlines Pokémon Night Out at Intuit Dome

Pokémon marks its 30th anniversary with a sold-out EDM night in Inglewood, with Alison Wonderland also on the bill.

The masked producer and the yellow mouse are sharing a stage. Marshmello headlines Pokémon Night Out, a 30th anniversary concert that brings the franchise face to face with electronic dance music for the first time, ScreenRant reported. The night lands at Intuit Dome in Inglewood on Saturday, October 24, The Pokémon Company says.

The Australian DJ Alison Wonderland joins him on a lineup built for the occasion. Both artists will play custom sets with Pokémon-inspired visual storytelling, and the night is open to fans 16 and older, Digital Music News reported when the shows were announced in April. A second night follows at the O2 Arena in London on November 10.

The Inglewood show is sold out, ScreenRant reported. Fans who missed out can still dance at home. Pokémon will stream the night live from Intuit Dome on its official YouTube and Twitch channels starting at 7:30 p.m. PDT, a broadcast the London show will not get.

Pokémon Center has released a Night Out merchandise line with T-shirts, sweatshirts, jerseys and a clear vinyl bag sporting the event logo and featured Pokémon. Some of it will also be sold at the arena’s on-site shop next to pieces available only at the show, while supplies last.

The pairing has a certain logic. Marshmello’s helmet has become as recognizable in dance music as Pikachu is everywhere else, ScreenRant noted, and both headliners have talked about growing up with Pokémon. The franchise has spent three decades on handhelds, card tables and Saturday morning television, and now it is testing that energy on an arena dance floor.

Halloween week brings more of the same energy to Hollywood, when Steve Aoki takes Dim Mak to Academy LA.
