John Mulaney will close out the year in Koreatown. The comedian has booked two year-end shows at the Wiltern, on Wednesday, December 30, and Thursday, December 31, with both starting at 7:30 p.m. Velvet also covered Before the Big Rooms, Brett Goldstein Tests a New Hour at Largo.

The nights belong to Mister Whatever, the tour Mulaney launched in Chicago in July. He sold it with a joke of its own, a spoof trailer that dresses the tour up as a solemn awards-season prestige film before revealing that it is a stand-up show.

The tour has been playing big. Mulaney recently became the first comedian to headline and sell out Wrigley Field, according to BroadwayWorld. In January he takes it to New York for nine straight nights, climbing from the Comedy Cellar on January 7 through Joe’s Pub, the Beacon Theatre, Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall to Madison Square Garden on January 15. His site bills that stand as Mulaney Takes Manhattan.

The Wiltern pair caps a long stretch on the road. His tour page has him in Texas in early October, at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula on October 15 and the Mountain Winery in Saratoga on October 18, then through the South and Florida in December, with Honolulu on December 17 and Maui on December 18 as the last stops before Los Angeles.

BroadwayWorld describes him as a four-time Emmy Award, Critics’ Choice Award and WGA Award-winning writer, comedian and actor. Last year he hosted, wrote and executive produced the Netflix talk show Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney, a continuation of Everybody’s In LA.

The December 30 show is the midweek option, and the December 31 show is the New Year’s Eve centerpiece. Both are all-ages, and the general on-sale opened on Thursday, September 17, through Ticketmaster, with tickets also sold at the Wiltern box office. As of today his tour page lists the December 30 show as sold out, while New Year’s Eve is still on sale.
