Acoustic on the City Hall Steps, Los Angeles Will Declare Billy Idol Day
The city will proclaim November 13 Billy Idol Day, one day before the pair enter the Rock Hall at the Peacock Theater.

Los Angeles plans to hand a rock star a day on the calendar. The city has announced that it will declare Friday, November 13, Billy Idol Day, honoring Idol and his longtime guitarist Steve Stevens at City Hall, Consequence reported on October 8.
What Is Planned for the Steps
As announced, Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez will present the pair with a decree during a City Council session, uDiscover Music wrote. A free public celebration follows on the steps of City Hall Park in Downtown Los Angeles, where Idol and Stevens will play an acoustic duo set with special surprise guests. Fans are invited to attend.
The day is timed to a bigger one. On Saturday, November 14, Idol and Stevens will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame at the Peacock Theater, uDiscover Music noted. The class also includes Phil Collins, Iron Maiden, Joy Division and New Order, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross and the Wu-Tang Clan. The ceremony will debut on ABC and Disney+ in December, and it returns to Cleveland in 2027. Velvet has already reported on the Rock Hall’s last call before Cleveland.
A Partnership Since 1982
Idol and Stevens have worked together since the start of Idol’s solo career in 1982, after his time fronting Generation X. Stevens also played and co-wrote across Idol’s 2025 album, Dream Into It, his first full-length collection of new music in more than a decade, uDiscover Music said. The record was released through Dark Horse Records and produced by Tommy English, and it features Avril Lavigne, Joan Jett and Alison Mosshart of The Kills.
There is more on the schedule before the honors. Consequence reported that the two will appear as special guests at one of Aerosmith’s just-announced Hollywood Bowl comeback shows on October 29. Idol’s career is also the subject of Billy Idol Should Be Dead, a feature documentary directed by Jonas Åkerlund and now streaming on Hulu, and an all-analog 180-gram One Step edition of Rebel Yell is due on November 20 through Interscope-Capitol Records’ Definitive Sound Series.
