Twenty Five Years on the Mic, Aziz Ansari Brings the Hypothetical Tour to the Dolby Theatre
Aziz Ansari plays the Dolby Theatre on Wednesday, October 7, with an hour he calls his best, before taping a Netflix special.

Aziz Ansari will bring his Hypothetical Tour to the Dolby Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard on Wednesday, October 7, at 7 p.m. Tickets run from $45 to $75, including a $5 facility fee, according to the Dolby Theatre’s event page.
The tour has been a long one. It started 20 months ago and paused twice, once for the press run for Good Fortune, his feature directing debut, and once to prepare a film that never happened, he told the Los Angeles Times. He will record the hour as a Netflix special later this month.
“I’ve been doing stand-up for 25 years, although when I say that, it doesn’t even sound right,” Ansari told the Times by phone from an airport in Australia.
At 43, the Parks and Recreation star and Master of None co-creator says he still loves stand-up more than television or movies. “There’s something so pure about stand-up,” he said. “And I’m really proud of this hour, I think it’s my best one. I’m just better at what I do and I’m a bit smarter as a comedian.” The new set covers marriage and culture. He calls himself a “level zero Indian” on stage, he told the paper.
He also said that fame can dull a comedian’s radar. “Actually, my goal is to have people that are skeptical and have to win them over,” he said, adding that a less warm room helps him edit his material.
The Dolby Theatre lists him as one of the few headlining comedians ever to sell out Madison Square Garden, and his latest special, Nightclub Comedian, is streaming on Netflix. The room has been good to comics this fall, as Velvet reported in Six Shows on Hollywood Boulevard, Max Amini Sets a Dolby Theatre Record.
