Twenty-One Years of Feels, Animal Collective Return to the Stage at the Fonda Theatre
The band plays its 2005 album Feels in full at the Fonda on Saturday, October 24, its first show together in four years.

Most of the Fonda Theatre’s centennial run has been about the room. Next Saturday, October 24, one night belongs to a record. Animal Collective will play their 2005 album Feels from start to finish on Hollywood Boulevard, the band’s first show together in four years.
The band announced the Feels Live dates in September, and there are only two of them, at the Knockdown Center in Queens on October 22 and at the Fonda two nights later, The Fader reported. Jambands lists the lineup as Avey Tare, Panda Bear, Geologist and Deakin and says it has been “just over four years” since the band last played a full live show.
A 21st Birthday
The band calls the shows “A 21st birthday party” for the album. Some listings bill them as a 20th anniversary, but that milestone belonged to last year, when the band put out a 20th anniversary reissue of Feels. According to Jambands, that edition came with a bonus disc of “nine B-sides and some previously unreleased demos.” Fans kept asking “Why aren’t you performing it live?” and the band admitted, “We were so used to our schedules not lining up that we didn’t consider it.” Now they will play the album in full, plus “some extras from the time.”
They also know how few people will get in. “We know only playing two shows in the two biggest cities in the states leaves a lot of you without an option to come out,” the band said, according to The Fader.
The Room
The night caps a crowded month for the Fonda, which opened in 1926 as Carter De Haven’s Music Box and later screened films as the Pix Theatre before going back to live music, TicketNews reported. The anniversary series brought Peaches back to the Fonda on October 17, and Flying Lotus plays the room on Friday, October 23, the night before Animal Collective.
Practical Details
Saturday, October 24, at the Fonda Theatre, 6126 Hollywood Boulevard. General sales opened September 11 through Ticketmaster, mxdwn reported. No opening act had been named in the announcement coverage.
