The Carnaval ends at 11 p.m. Halloween does not. For the crowds pouring off Santa Monica Boulevard on Saturday night, and for everyone who wants a head start on Friday, the rooftop above the Sunset Strip is where the weekend keeps going.

Orlove by Night, the party crew behind some of the Strip’s biggest nights, has two parties booked at White Rabbit Sky Lounge at The Valorian, the open-air rooftop at 8440 Sunset Blvd that locals still remember as Skybar.

Friday, October 30 brings The Hustle, a 70s disco Halloween party running 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. The soundtrack is pure Studio 54, Chic, Donna Summer, ABBA, the Bee Gees, Earth Wind and Fire, Blondie, Sister Sledge, Chaka Khan and more. Costumes are encouraged, the party is 21 and up, and tickets start around 19 dollars.

Costumes encouraged, dancing mandatory.

Saturday, October 31 is the main event, Orlove’s 12th Annual Halloween Blowout, also 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Twelve years in, it is one of the longest-running Halloween parties in West Hollywood, a high-energy night of music, lighting and costumes with the Strip glittering below. Same deal, 21 and up, costumes strongly encouraged. Tables are available for groups that want to post up for the night.

Before the rooftop

Start Friday a few blocks away at The Lucky Tiki, the bar above Tail o’ the Pup that sits in what it identifies as The Doors’ 1970 workshop and recording studio. The house pour for the weekend is the Ghost of Jim Morrison, a rum cocktail built for the occasion. It is a suitably haunted warm-up before the disco.

Getting there and getting home

White Rabbit Sky Lounge is at 8440 Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood. Both nights are 21 and up with valid ID. Rideshare is the move, the Strip will be packed and parking is scarce on Halloween weekend. Tickets for both nights are available in advance, and the Saturday blowout has sold through in past years, so booking ahead is smart.
