One Last Table, Rossoblu Winds Down and Steve Samson Cooks With Friends
Rossoblu ends regular dinner service November 1 after nearly a decade, and Steve Samson plans two farewell dinners with chefs who shaped it.
The open kitchen at Rossoblu has a few weeks of regular dinners left, and chef Steve Samson plans to spend two special nights cooking beside the people who shaped it. Los Angeles magazine reported that the Downtown Italian restaurant closes its doors on November 1 after nearly a decade, and that Samson has invited chefs who influenced its culinary journey to two celebratory dinners called Steve & Friends Cooking Together, on Tuesday, October 27, and Tuesday, November 17.
Steve Samson and his wife and co owner, Dina Samson, announced the closure on September 4, Hoodline reported, citing the Los Angeles Times. The wood fired, Bologna inspired restaurant opened in 2017 as an anchor of City Market South, a 2.5 acre complex of reimagined industrial buildings that once housed a wholesale produce hub. Its final two months bring back fan favorite menu items.
The restaurant’s own announcement, embedded by WhatNow, set the final regular dinner service for Sunday, November 1, with private events and special dinners continuing through the end of the year. That explains why the second Friends dinner lands after the doors close to everyday diners. WhatNow also noted that Rossoblu held a Michelin Bib Gourmand from 2019 through 2023, and that a new concept is planned for the space, with no details shared yet.
The guest chefs, prices and start times for the two dinners have not been announced. Rossoblu’s website points to a chef collaboration dinners section, which is the place to watch for the lineup and reservations. The restaurant is at 1124 San Julian Street in the Fashion District.
