George Harrison carried a camera through Beatlemania, and now those pictures fill a book. On Sunday, October 11 at 4 p.m., Olivia Harrison will join Cameron Crowe at the Robert Frost Auditorium in Culver City for Live Talks Los Angeles, in a conversation illustrated with George’s own photographs.

The occasion is The Third Eye, a collection of early photographs that Random House publishes in the U.S. on October 6. The official announcement describes it as the first ever collection of George’s personal photos taken between 1963 and 1970, in color and black and white along with 8mm movie stills. Live Talks counts more than two hundred photographs, many published for the first time. Olivia compiled and curated the book and wrote its introduction, and the novelists Colm Tóibín and George Saunders contributed essays.

The pictures follow the band from Liverpool to Ed Sullivan, Adelaide to Rishikesh, and the Eiffel Tower to the beaches of Tahiti, according to Live Talks, which notes that Harrison traveled with a Pentax in hand and was enamored of selfies long before the iPhone. “I like cameras because you can see things in a different way,” George once said, “and you can make things look how they feel instead of how they are.”

Olivia met George when she worked at A&M Records and went on to help run his Dark Horse label. She produced the HBO documentary George Harrison Living in the Material World with Martin Scorsese directing, and she shared an Emmy as a producer of the Beatles series Get Back. Crowe, whose books include Almost Famous and who wrote the screenplay for Jerry Maguire, published his memoir The Uncool in 2025 and is at work on a feature film about Joni Mitchell. Velvet also covered his rooftop talk with Brandi Carlile.

Los Angeles is the second of two American stops. Olivia will talk with Scorsese at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on October 6, the night the book arrives. A deluxe edition follows on October 27 with a seven-inch vinyl of a never-before-released George Harrison song, four photo prints and signed, numbered cards from Olivia.

In-person tickets are $95 with a copy of the book, or $130 for a reserved seat with two books, The Third Eye and The Uncool. A virtual ticket at $80 includes the book and a stream on October 18. The auditorium is at 4401 Elenda Street.
