First Name Only, Miley Plays the Hollywood Bowl for the First Time
Two October nights under the shell celebrate Bass Persuades, her first No. 1 album in more than a decade.

Miley Cyrus does not perform often, and she has never played the Hollywood Bowl. That changes on Friday, October 16 and Sunday, October 18, when she takes the shell for two nights built around her 10th studio album, Bass Persuades. Time Out Los Angeles reports that they are her first performances at the venue. Velvet also covered Cynthia Erivo’s solo night at the Bowl.
She arrives with one name. According to Time Out, the Grammy winner has dropped Cyrus from her social media accounts and from the promotion around the new album, and now goes simply by Miley. Her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, gave the change his blessing on X. “I told @miley yesterday I felt good about her going with her first name,” he wrote, before comparing her to Dolly, Cher, Elvis and Prince.
The record came first. Bass Persuades arrived on September 18 and opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 61,000 equivalent album units, Variety reported. It is her sixth album to top that chart and her first since Bangerz in 2013. “Music takes hold of us,” she wrote when she announced it. “We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on.”
The demand has been loud. Show organizers said 1.5 million people joined the pre-sale queues for a venue that seats about 18,000, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The trade noted that she has not played a proper concert tour in more than a decade, apart from a brief 11-date festival run in 2021 and 2022. In September, USA Today found resale seats starting at $607.
Model/Actriz, the art-rock band featured on the album, opens both nights. The Bowl suggests arriving at least 90 minutes before the concert, with rideshare drop-off and pick-up at 6655 Odin Street. These are lease events, so outside alcohol is not permitted, although food and sealed non-alcoholic drinks are welcome in the picnic areas.
