The Score at Thirty, Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean Reunite at the Hollywood Bowl
Ms. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean bring the Fugees album The Score to the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday, November 8.

The Fugees released The Score in February 1996, and on Sunday, November 8, two of its three voices will play it back under the Hollywood Bowl shell. Ms. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean are booked for a 7:30 p.m. concert that Live Nation lists as “Celebrating 30 years of Fugees The Score.” Tickets are on sale through the Hollywood Bowl box office and official ticket channels, TicketNews reported.
A Four-City Run
Okayplayer reported in late August that the reunion would play the Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas on Friday, November 6, followed by the Bowl two nights later, calling the shows “a celebration of the album’s genre-defining legacy and the enduring cultural impact.” The group’s official site has since filled out a short tour it calls FUGEES 30. It opens at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley on November 4, already sold out, and closes at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle on November 10.
The album itself is the draw. An Urban Hollywood 411 piece carried by Yahoo notes that The Score came out on February 13, 1996, topped the Billboard 200 and was certified six times platinum by October 1997. It won the 1997 Grammy for Best Rap Album, and “Killing Me Softly With His Song” won Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
The Summer Warmup
Hill and Jean marked the anniversary together this summer, performing at the first Diaspora Calling! festival at the National Bowl in Milton Keynes, England, on August 7. Asked by the Associated Press whether her relationship to the album had changed, Hill answered, “That’s a timeless piece of work for us as well.” Jean agreed. “Every time I perform ‘The Score’ now, I feel like it’s the first time.”
The Bowl’s fall calendar has leaned hard on headliners, from Cynthia Erivo’s solo evening to Aerosmith’s return at the end of the month. This night is built around a single record.
