Soulection is bringing its birthday home. The Los Angeles collective, which started life as a local radio show, celebrates 15 years tomorrow, Saturday, October 3, with an open-air party at Reframe Studios Outdoors in Atwater Village, and Kaytranada sits at the top of the bill.

The booking carries weight. Kaytranada will perform with Soulection for the first time, EDMTunes reports, in his first official live set alongside founder Joe Kay and the rest of the team. The history runs deeper than the date suggests. The Grammy-winning producer’s early remixes, with their bounce of electronic and R&B influences, helped shape the sound of Soulection Radio long before this night was booked.

Joe Kay, a DJ and entrepreneur, founded Soulection in 2011, and it grew from a local LA radio show into a platform with global reach. Its reputation rests on spotting talent early and pushing what it calls the Sound of Tomorrow before it crosses into the mainstream. Kay plays on the same bill as Kaytranada, and Framework’s lineup is rounded out by ESTA, DJ Miss Milan and Ayanna Heaven.

Los Angeles follows London. The anniversary run stopped at Magazine Open-Air on Sunday, August 16, where Leon Thomas, Sasha Keable, JayO, Wayne Wonder and DJ Tunez all made appearances, and the anniversary site thanks a London crowd it puts at 10,000.

The room for the homecoming is Framework’s open-air extension of its Atwater Village space, at 4594 Electronics Place, built to hold larger crowds while keeping the intimate, design-forward feel the promoter is known for on the city’s dance music circuit. Velvet also covered Techno on Imperial Street, ORIGIN Opens in the Arts District.

The party runs from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., rain or shine, and is 21 and over. There is shade and seating on site, food and merch on hand, no ins and outs and no water stations. VIP tickets add expedited entry, dedicated bathrooms and access to a viewing platform. Set times will be announced closer to the show, and ticket support runs through DICE.
