Open Doors on Grand Avenue, Downtown’s Arts Row Goes Free for a Day
Grand Ave Arts All Access opens 14 downtown institutions for free performances, tours and workshops on Saturday, October 24.

For five hours next Saturday, the most polished stretch of downtown costs nothing to walk into. Grand Ave Arts All Access returns on Saturday, October 24, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., opening the institutions along Grand Avenue between Temple Street and 6th Street for free workshops, performances, tours and hands-on art-making.
“All events are free and open to the public, rain or shine,” the organizers say. Visitors are asked to RSVP with an email address and the size of their party. The day covers art, music, dance and literature, with the steel curves of Walt Disney Concert Hall and the honeycomb of The Broad as the backdrop.
Who Opens Up
Fourteen institutions take part this year. The list runs from Center Theatre Group, Classical California and Colburn to Gloria Molina Grand Park, Grand Performances, LA Opera and the LA Phil, and on to the Los Angeles Central Library, Metro Art, MOCA, REDCAT, The Broad and The Music Center.
DATALAND at The Grand LA brings a preview of Latent Space, billed as a discovery lounge for art, code and conversation. DATALAND works under the artistic leadership of Refik Anadol Studio inside The Grand LA, the Frank Gehry-designed development at 100 S. Grand Avenue, according to the museum’s own site.
A Full Saturday
The day lands on the same Saturday as Día de los Muertos at Hollywood Forever, which runs from noon to midnight, so a free afternoon on Bunker Hill can roll straight into a night among the altars. Resident named both among the October events in Los Angeles worth going out for.
Practical Details
Saturday, October 24, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Grand Avenue from Temple Street to 6th Street. Admission is free with an RSVP at grandavearts.org.
