A Utopia Unravels at the Greek, Foster the People Close Their Tour in Griffith Park
Foster the People end the Good Mourning Sunshine tour at the Greek Theatre on Friday, October 23, with Goth Babe in support.

A 1950s utopia will come apart on stage in Griffith Park. On Friday, October 23, Foster the People bring their Good Mourning Sunshine tour to the Greek Theatre, the final stop of the North American run.
Pollstar reported in April that the band announced the fall tour after debuting a new live show at Coachella. Pollstar described it as a show that “transports audiences through a 1950s-inspired utopia that slowly unravels into a psychedelic dream.” Goth Babe, the project of Griff Washburn, supports on the Los Angeles date, and both Pollstar and Live Nation list the Greek as the tour’s last stop.
The Album Behind It
The band is touring Paradise State of Mind, which Pollstar says hit the Top 10 on Billboard’s album sales chart and calls the group’s “most ambitious and personal work yet.” Recorded between Church Studios in London and East West Studios in Los Angeles, it draws on “late-’70s and early-’80s influences, weaving together funk, disco, gospel, and R&B into something wholly their own.”
The tour announcement says the record hides its message in the melody, and quotes Foster on what that message is.
“People need hope. And when I think about what hope is, it’s having the courage to walk towards something that you think can be better, while fully acknowledging the darkness around you.”
