Courage on the Event Deck, Michael Bublé Sings for the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Gala
Children’s Hospital Los Angeles marks 125 years Saturday at L.A. Live, honoring Ellen K and Kourtney and Justin Turner.
Downtown will hear Michael Bublé on Saturday, and the evening is for the kids. Children’s Hospital Los Angeles holds its biennial gala on October 17 at The Event Deck at L.A. Live, and the hospital’s gala page lists Bublé as the musical performance and Gina Rodriguez as host.
The night celebrates 125 years of the hospital and its $1.25 billion Anniversary Campaign, CHLA says, and promises a program highlighting the hospital’s recent achievements.
The Honorees
The hospital’s Courage to Care Award goes to radio host Ellen K and to Kourtney and Justin Turner. Ellen K hosts the morning show on KOST 103.5, which CHLA calls the No. 1 FM morning show in Los Angeles. The gala page says she was the first woman to anchor a solo morning drive show in the city and was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2022. Her Giving Tuesday broadcast, started in 2016, has raised more than $4 million for the hospital, and she joined its Board of Trustees in 2021.
Kourtney and Justin Turner founded the Justin Turner Foundation. CHLA describes Justin as a former Major League Baseball player and a Roberto Clemente Award recipient, and says the couple have supported the hospital since 2016. Both serve on the CHLA Foundation Board of Trustees.
The Room
Bublé arrives with five Grammys and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the gala page notes. Rodriguez won a Golden Globe for Jane the Virgin. The honorary campaign chairs are Jamie Lee Curtis, Jimmy Kimmel, Sugar Ray Leonard and Chuck Lorre, with Nikki DeLoach and Jeffrey Worthe as campaign chairs.
The gala returns to familiar ground. Two years ago CHLA presented its 2024 Courage to Care Award to AEG at a gala hosted at L.A. Live. This year’s date also sits in a full season of Los Angeles benefits, ahead of the City of Hope Spirit of Life Gala later this month.
