Carnival in Chavez Ravine, Camp Flog Gnaw Returns to Dodger Stadium
Tyler, the Creator’s sold-out carnival lands November 14 and 15 with Future, Steve Lacy, Turnstile and Lola Young on the bill.
The rides go up in Chavez Ravine again. Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, the festival Tyler, the Creator curates and presents every year and first staged in 2012, returns to the Dodger Stadium grounds on November 14 and 15.
The weekend sold out before anyone knew who was playing. Tickets went on sale June 11, ahead of the lineup, and a waitlist is now open. When Tyler finally revealed the bill on August 18, he did it with scrambled word puzzles, which The FADER said took its staff at least 30 minutes to decode.
Decoded, the lineup reads like a year of group chats. Tyler headlines alongside Future, Steve Lacy, Don Toliver, Turnstile and Lola Young, with Vince Staples, JID, Isaiah Rashad, Earl Sweatshirt and MIKE, Lupe Fiasco, Syd and Wallows further down.
The undercard is where the carnival earns its name. Magdalena Bay, The Alchemist, Thee Sacred Souls, Leon Thomas, Jane Remover, Latin Mafia, Quadeca, Audrey Nuna and Nourished By Time round out the weekend.
Consequence noted that, as of its report, the carnival would be Tyler’s only US performance this year, which goes a long way toward explaining the waitlist.
