The date was the whole idea. Saturday, October 10, or 10/10, was set as the opening day for Mike Majlak’s 10/10Burger at 1253 Vine Street in Hollywood, Time Out reported. Majlak is a social media personality, the bestselling author of The Fifth Vital and a co-host of the Impaulsive podcast, and until now his smashburgers have lived mostly on the road.

The Menu

The menu is short and straightforward. The signature 10/10Burger comes with one or two smashed beef patties, American cheese, grilled onions, pickles, a toasted potato bun and the brand’s signature 10/10 sauce, Time Out wrote. There is also The Old School, a classic burger with ketchup and mustard, a crispy chicken sandwich, homemade fries and a Cinnamon Toast Crunch milkshake. The restaurant’s own site describes the concept as a third-wave smashburger built to be rated 10/10.

Opening Day

For the launch, LAmag’s weekend guide said the doors open at 10:10 a.m. on 10/10 and that the first 1,010 guests get a free burger. The restaurant’s own site does not mention an opening-day time, and the hours it posts for the Hollywood shop are inconsistent, so the 10:10 a.m. start rests on LAmag’s report. The Hollywood shop is the brand’s first permanent location in the U.S., according to a California Post report carried by Yahoo, which said a second Los Angeles location is planned in the Arts District on South Santa Fe Avenue, with no opening date given. The brand’s site also lists a shop in Dubai.

From Pop-Up to Address

Majlak built the name by traveling. He has eaten burgers around the world and rated them, which is why a restaurant named for a perfect score makes sense. The pop-up gained its following through social videos of celebrities trying the burgers, among them Logan Paul and Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua, the California Post reported.

In a statement, Majlak made the case for the restaurant as a summary of his travels. “I’ve eaten hundreds of burgers around the world and spent my entire life figuring out exactly what makes the perfect burger,” he said. “10/10Burger is a curation of everything I’ve learned along the way. We’ve taken this concept around the world to massive crowds, but having a permanent home in Los Angeles is a huge moment for me. I’ve wanted to do this for a long time, and I’m excited for people to finally be able to walk through our doors and experience 10/10 the way I always envisioned it. It’s a dream come true.”

Time Out noted that the Hollywood shop is a significant step for a brand that has so far existed largely on the road, and that fans no longer have to chase the next pop-up or festival. After years of handing out scores, Time Out wrote, Majlak now has Los Angeles as his critic.
